INTRODUCTION TO OIL PAINTING WORKSHOP with Steve White

This one day, intensive workshop will cover a review of different types of oil painting supplies and their uses, different surfaces, composition, and understanding how the use of values can create drama and visual excitement. The visual elements of line, shape, light and shadow, color harmony, texture and space, and focal point will be discussed. Students will learn traditional painting techniques: how to execute underpaintings and grisaille and use of a limited color palette. Demos will be provided. Critique of individual work will be based on oil painting concepts and techniques. All supplies are included (canvas, paints, use of the school’s brushes, etc.). Minimum 4 students. WINTER SPRING SESSION Choose Saturday, January 14 OR Saturday, April 22. Class runs from 10am to 3pm, with a half hour lunch break. $75 (member), $100 (non-member).
