SUMMER MANGA (13-17) with Crystal Haring

Four week summer session! Did you know that Japanese manga drawings started out as fables and political satire? In this class, you will learn more about the origins of manga, Japanese history, and how this art-form has influenced pop culture, from movies to fashion.  You will get to experiment with different media and work on developing your own manga style. We will talk about and view character features that are typical of the style, such as large eyes and simple lines and create funny mascots, known as chibis. Instructor statement: I became interested in manga art and history in college when I took a Japanese history course. The history and vivid fantasy world of manga art drew me in. This class has given me the perfect opportunity to revisit Japanese history and art and develop my own manga style. I look forward to working with everyone! All supplies included. Minimum 4 students. SUMMER SESSION begins June 20. Class runs Wednesdays from 10am-12noon for 4 weeks. NO CLASS JULY 4. $100 (member), $115 (non-member).

This class is running! Join in the fun.
