FEBRUARY POP-UP HOMESCHOOL ART (ages 7-17) with various instructors

Pop-Up Homeschool Art is a series of one-day workshops, taught by different instructors that each focus on a different technique or medium. Each month has a different theme. Students can sign up for one class, or take as many as they like. Pottery classes are $22 per class. All other classes are $18.
February’s theme is African American art and artists. Class choices are:
- Pottery: Students will learn about the African American slave folk tradition of making clay face jugs. Students will design and create their own face jug. Wednesday, February 5 from 1-2:30pm.
- Book illustration: Students will learn about African American book illustrators like London Ladd and Vanessa Newton. They will discuss the process of illustrating a book and create an illustration of their own inspired by those artists. Tuesday, February 11 from 10:30am-noon.
- Printmaking: Students will learn about the tradition of story quilts and create their own version using mudcloth techniques and designs. Thursday, February 20 from 10:30am-noon.
