Smith Family Plaza

Take a self-guided tour of the wonderful sculpture in this beautiful space right by Borough Hall.

The sculptures in the Smith Family Plaza were done by sculptor Eric Berg. Here is a brief excerpt from the minutes of the May 9, 2001 Council meeting:

Mr. Jones (Manager Robert Jones) briefly explained the proposed design of the ¾ acre plot in front of Borough Hall regarding trees, lighting and a fountain.  At this time Mr. Jones introduced Eric Berg, Sculptor, to discuss a proposed animal sculpture for the Town Center. (Smith Family Plaza).

Mr. Berg, a graduate of the Hill School, described his design for the Center.  He noted that the bear would be made of bronze and the three fish composition would be steel.  He added that he chose the bear because of its relationship to the area and noted that the steel fish would reflect light for an added attraction.
