Kristin Bispels, ceramic artist
Kristin Bispels creates both functional and decorative work with stoneware clay using wheel thrown, handbuilt and sculptural elements. Many pieces are finished with detailed surface decoration and are fired in a variety of ways, including gas, wood and soda kiln firings, which add a level of unpredictability to the process.
She is inspired by nature and loves to tell stories through her pieces that blur the boundaries between reality and fantastical worlds.
Kristin’s background in education, art, and her lived experience as the mother of a daughter with intellectual disability led to the founding of Inclusive Clay, an organization focused on serving adults with IDD and Autism. Inclusive Clay shapes communities by partnering with art studios, like ArtFusion19464, to enable this population to access art spaces and create ceramics in their local area.
