Drawing is the foundation of much of my work. When creating art with acrylic paints I build up layers using gloss and flat; dull and shiny; Opaque and transparent. Looking for fugitive light and changes in a painting from different points of view. Humor and light are two of the recurring themes in my work. I look forward to many more years of sharing and teaching art.
Joan Shaw, Artist
I earned an associates degree from Onondaga Community College. As a long time member of Onondaga Art Guild, my work has been displayed in many shows and I have art in homes around the country. Teaching art in the Syracuse City School District ‘’Say Yes” program allowed me to inspire and create with many talented students. Volunteering at Open Hand Puppet Theater was an awesome opportunity to work with many talented artists.
