From Haddonfield, New Jersey, Peter works in watercolors, pen and ink and pastels. He has been exhibiting his work since 1960 with shows in Philadelphia, New Jersey and upstate New York. Peter describes his work as “heavy handed.” His goal is to disguise his medium. His Asian-influenced work reflects a unique style of multiple washes and intricate design. Many of Peter’s works incorporate Oriental designs with rich textures and detail. His subjects include intricately flowered ginger jars, elaborately designed kimonas, classic figure studies and free form decorative abstracts. Traditional and modern symbols are combined with bold colors, quite unlike the simplistic ancient originals that inspired them. Unlike Asian masters, Peter’s works are complex and painstakingly executed. There are no simple brushstrokes in his watercolors.
